Picture a Tuesday, it's 8:40 a.m. You grab a latte at 10 DEAN, the café on the ground floor, and step out onto Queen Street East. You stroll west past the Eaton Centre, turn down Bay, and you're at your desk before 9:00.
No traffic report. No delayed-train alert. No monthly parking bill.
That's an ordinary morning at Elm-Ledbury, Fitzrovia's two-tower rental community on Queen Street East between Dalhousie and Mutual. It sits in the Garden District, close enough to the core that your commute stops being the worst part of the day and starts being the best.
Union Station is your front door to everywhere
Union is about 1.4 km from Elm-Ledbury, roughly a 17-minute walk. That matters even if you never work on Bay Street.
Union is where GO trains leave for Oakville and Oshawa, where VIA heads to Montreal and Ottawa, and where the UP Express runs to Pearson. Weekend at the cottage? Friday-evening flight? You can roll your suitcase there.
And on the days you'd rather not walk, Queen subway station is just steps away. Union is two stops south on Line 1. The 501 Queen streetcar runs right past the building, too.
Bay Street, basically next door
Elm-Ledbury sits steps from the Financial District. The towers at King and Bay are about a 15-minute walk, or one subway stop from Queen to King. In January, the PATH lets you do much of the trip indoors.
Here's the math that sells it. Swap a 45-minute commute each way for a 15-minute walk and you get back about five hours a week. That's a gym class, a long dinner, or simply an extra hour of sleep most mornings.
The rest of life is on foot as well. With a walk score of 100, groceries, lunch and Thursday-night plans rarely need a car.
What's waiting when you get home
Location gets you to book a tour. What makes people stay is everything that happens after 6 p.m.
Start with the suite. Quartz waterfall counters, an integrated wine fridge, full-sized stainless-steel appliances and your own washer and dryer. It feels less like a rental and more like a place you'd buy.
Then head upstairs (or downstairs). There's a rooftop infinity pool, a sky lounge, a Raptors basketball court, and F1 and ski simulators for when you want something different than the gym. The gym itself is commercial-grade, with a yoga sanctuary and spin studio. None of it comes with a maintenance fee.
The thoughtful touches go further than most buildings bother. An on-site telehealth centre was built with Cleveland Clinic Canada. Parents have Bloomsbury Academy, a Montessori-inspired early learning centre run by Fitzrovia, right in the building. Dogs get a self-serve spa and a skyline dog run.
And you'll actually meet your neighbours. Elm-Ledbury runs resident events every two weeks, from cultural celebrations to Blue Jays games. In a city where many people never learn the name of the person next door, that counts.
The industry has noticed. In 2024, Elm-Ledbury won BILD's Best New Community, Best High-Rise Building Design and People's Choice awards.
A neighbourhood that fills your evenings
Step outside and the Garden District does the rest. Massey Hall and the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre are a short walk away. So are George Restaurant and Richmond Station, two downtown dinner favourites. Saturday mornings belong to St. Lawrence Market, and the Distillery District is an easy stroll east.
